11-year-old Steals Parents Marijuana-Laced Rice Krispies Treats To Get Classmates Stoned
Kids may say some of the darnedest things, but they can definitely also do some of the dumbest things. Case and point, stealing their parents' weed-laced snacks and sharing them with the class, which is exactly what one kid from Texas did.
An 11-year-old from Newark, TX decided to take their parents' Rice Krispies treats, which were baked with marijuana oil, to school and share them with four friends. Considering how grown adults who get high have a hard time disguising it, these kids had no chance in hell with getting away with this, but their plan clearly didn't include that part. Their teachers noticed something was up when they started acting strangely in class- one (who probably should stay away from marijuana even once he's old enough to think about smoking it) even got "combative."
"They noticed the children's eyes were glassy, more laughter than usual, motors skills were impaired,” Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin told Fox 4 News. “One of them became combative."
The sheriff believes the student that brought the treats to class was well aware that they were special snacks that would make them feel...different. “I believe they all knew it had some content of a drug that would help make them drunk,” said Sheriff Akin
Two of the students involved were taken in to juvenile detention and processed, but neither were detained. The Northwest Independent School District responded to the incident by sending home a letter to parents addressing their shock at this first time violation of its kind. I'm more interested in finding out how the students' parents handled them once they got home, but unfortunately those details weren't released.
Everyone knows that kids have a way of getting into things they shouldn't—their parents' liquor, cigarettes, etc—so with marijuana becoming less and less taboo, is this the kind of thing parents should be aware of so they can prevent more situations like this in the future?
