You wake up to the sound of you buzzing alarm click slamming through the silence as you hit snooze. And hit snooze again. Pull yourself out of bed, shower and spend an hour picking out an outfit before realizing your running late! Darting out the door and whisking head-on into your morning commute on an empty stomach only to walk in office door ten minutes late. Does this sound like you?

Morning's can be hard on us all but, there are ways to maximize our morning time to make each day the best it can be. In fact, there are proven things that some of the worlds most high-functioning and successful people do EVERY morning to jumpstart their day. What can we learn from folks like Arianna Huffington, Mark Zuckerburg, Richard Branson Gary Vaynerchuk? That the right morning routine can set you up for success.

Here are five things to do every morning to make your day the best it can be!

Exercise

Vogue Editor, Anna Wintour, plays an hour of tennis every morning. Jack Dorsey, CEO Square and Founder of Twitter takes a 6-mile jog. Ellen DeGeneres does 60-90 minutes of "Power Yoga." It's an undeniable fact that starting your day with a good bout of sweat, heavy breathing, stretching and exercise can get you primped and pumped for the day! Working out helps you focus, works to improve your mood, gives your metabolic rate a quick boost and, consequently, burn more fat.

Drink Water

Water is awesome. The health benefits of being wicked hydrated are undeniable. But add some lemon to that and heat it up and you've just changed the ballgame, my friend! Hot water with lemon is a natural detox, it wakes up your liver and works to flush out toxins and jumpstarts your gastrointestinal tract. Lemon also works well as an anti-inflammatory and offers you a bump of immune boosting goodness!

Connect

What do the CEO of Starbucks, Virgin Money, VaynerMedia and the Founder of Amazon, the British Prime Minister and the Leader of the Free World do every morning? Spend time with family! You have the whole day to plug in, stay focussed and busy. Why not follow in the footsteps of some of the most high-functioning business people and start the day off with quality time, your family, kids or spouse.Whether you have breakfast together, dress kids for school or, even, have sex with your partner, keeping connected is an essential element to our emotional well being.

Meditate

If its good enough for Tony Robbins and Arianna Huffington it's good enough for us! Besides turning on your "mental spam filter," meditation helps tune out negative self-talk, external noise and stuff that otherwise would sabotage our clear perceptions. Meditation has been shown to increase mental acuity, reduce food cravings, increase your compassion and, frankly, just make you an overall better person!

Prioritize

We're bombarded with email and multimedia messages and meetings all day long. Many super successful people start the morning with a quick scan to address any burning issues that need attention. It also helps them to determine what to attack first. It's pretty much a given from pro's who focus on productivity that your early hours are the most effective and, therefor, the best time to address the biggest issues on your plate. So, weed through the much and identify what needs to be done first thing in the day!
