5 Unique Kid's Party Themes
A child’s first birthday celebration is by far the easiest. They aren’t old enough to know what’s going on and will most likely end up sleeping at some point during it. As they get older, though, it’s so much fun to create memories with them and their friends during special events. A lot of that probably happens during school, but unique parties provide awesome opportunities for cute photos, quotable moments, and stories to remember when they’re all grown up. Choose one of the themes listed below with all the guidelines you need to run the show. Obviously you’ll have to dedicate some time and effort to pull it off, but none of these are drastically difficult. Hurry and start making your guest list before you run out of time! Everyone who’s there will have a blast and they’ll be asking about your next party before this one is even over.

2. Arts and Crafts

I know, I know. You’re probably already imagining the huge mess you’ll have to clean up after this one, but if you prepare properly it’ll be so much easier than you’d think. Start off by mailing out some unique handmade watercolor invitations to the guests reminding them to wear old clothes they don’t mind getting dirty. Tape up large craft paper in various colors on the walls and let the kids go at it with whatever medium you want to provide. Lay a tarp down, or newspaper if you don’t have it, to save your floors. Another option is to set up different craft stations, or let the kids decorate their own cupcakes. Whatever you do, it’ll be splendid.
3. Carnival

Who didn’t love going to the carnival when they were little? Make a mini version of your own, complete with various games and sweet desserts. Caramel apples and cotton candy are both classics. If you’re feeling up to it, you can even create a photo booth for the kids where they can dress up and pose together. Gather all your costume clothes and encourage parents to bring theirs to share as well – the more options, the more creative the kids will be!
4. Under the Sea

Finding Dory just came out, so ocean and sea animals are all the rage. Take this lead for a great summer party that includes plenty of water activities (think water balloons, mini pools, and sprinklers). You can also use balloons to make decorative bubbles and fish to go along with the theme. Add tropical fruits to the kids’ cups, like pineapple or lime, so they feel extra cool while drinking fresh lemonade. For party favors, give out mini treasure boxes full of goodies!
5. Little Chefs

Get the kids involved in the cooking process for an easier option. Everyone should suit up in aprons and chef hats for the day. Choose simple recipes for an appetizer, entree, and dessert. Parfaits are quick, but if you think the age group is old enough to use knives, you may want to ask another parent to come help you out. All the kids will love making their own pizzas, just use flatbreads instead of real dough to save time. For dessert, decide on three different flavored cookies to bake together for your final activity.
