Short women of the world unite! 43% of American women identify as being petite, standing 5 ‘4” or under. If you’re one of these gals and looking to add a few inches to your appearance, we have one piece of advice for you… fake it till you make it! Here are 7 simple ways for you to fake a few inches, twist the eyes and leave you looking longer and leaner!

Your number one secret style tool to adding a few inches? Go high-waisted and go monochromatic! According to Meaghan O’Conner, a NY-based celebrity stylist, high-waisted pants, shorts and skirts, looks that are super on-trend right now, make legs appear longer. “Look for styles that sit slightly above your natural waistline but not under your bust,” she advises. “For your bottom half, keep it monochromatic. Chose skin-tone shoes or tights the same color as your footwear option. This will create a long line and elongate your frame.”

To keep it simple, we’re laying out 7 tips you can pull off with ease.

1) Footwear with a Hidden Platform
You can, literally, add a few inches with platform shoes. We suggest  shoes with hidden platforms that are invisible to the eye. The look will be sleeker and more modern then a traditional platform or wedge!

2) Shoe Inserts with Lift
Another obvious, but reliable, choice is to lift yourself with shoe inserts. They key is to select an insert with good support and natural pitch, like Hello to Longer Legs. A good insert will make your legs look longer and lift your butt!

3) Don a Deep V-Neck
Elongate your core and neck by finding a monochromatic dress or top with a deep v-neckline. This works for every body but those with an ample chest, who might be left a little too… exposed!

4) High-Waisted Bottoms
As O’Conner suggest, look for shorts, skirts or pants that sit just above your natural waistline. Nothing too high or you'll start to heading fast into "babydoll" territory!

5) Nude Pumps with Toe-Cleavage
Arm yourself with the most versatile shoe a petite gal can own – a classic stiletto that matches your skin tone. Also, make sure the rise of the shoe in front allows some of your “toe-cleavage” to poke out!

6) Paneled Dresses
Create shape and height with a dress that architects your body! Strategically placed panel are optical illusions that add height. Last, but not least…

7) Go Minimal
Avoid looks that overwhelm with fabric. Nothing too billowy, layered and overflowing. Instead, opt for looks that are tailored, chic and minimalist

"Dressing tall" as a petite woman might seem like a challenge but, with a strategic wardrobe and smartly-stocked closet you can sport styles that leave you strutting down the streets like a supermodel!
