This is a tough one. An 8-year-old double dutch champ in Jersey died after being fatally struck by a vehicle. Our hearts go out to his family.

Jeremiah, better known as, Jerry “Prince Bee” Grant, was hit while crossing a busy downtown intersection. The accident happened after the Honey Bees spent the afternoon in Downtown Jersey City trying to raise funds for an upcoming show at the Apollo, uniforms and other tournaments.

Honey Bees founder Takeria Clark recounted to the Journal, "We all stopped at the corner and Jerry heard 'go' from another jumper and ran in the street, the car was going so fast. It hit him so hard."  According to a witness, the driver drove about a 100 feet before stopping. They did not realize they’d even hit someone.

This is heartbreaking!

Sadly, sources informed the Journal that Jerry died at the hospital shortly after the crash. This is a time when a community needs to come together and help one of its own. If you would like to help Jerry's family in their time of grief by giving back, please do so HERE.

Jerry was with the Honey Bees in August, following their National Championship win when they appeared on “The Tonight Show”. Check out their moves here:

Pedestrians have reported issues and complained for years about the intersection of Christopher Columbus Drive and Grove Street in downtown Jersey City, so much that city officials have adjusted timing that allows when pedestrians can cross in efforts to make the intersection safer.

This tragedy, while an accident, should shine a light to rising speed limits on our roads, particularly within heavier, more populated downtown areas and caution us to slow down when driving through busy intersections.

#RIP Jeremiah “Prince Bee” Grant.
