9 Things You'll Understand If You Grew Up in a Small Town
Not everyone can be born in a city. Or a few miles away from a city. OR EVEN LIKE, LIGHT YEARS AWAY FROM A CITY.
Some of us have to deal with being born and raised in a small town. It has it's pros and cons, of course. It can get boring fast but at the same time, it can enhance your imagination, right? Whether you love it or hate it, we're 100% certain you'll relate to this article.
1. Running into someone you know...EVERY SINGLE TIME you go out.
"Listen, Debbie. It's not that I don't like you, I just don't really care to have a long conversation about how we're doing in the middle of this McDonalds parking lot when we don't even care about each other."
2. After 8 PM, one of the only places you can go to is Walmart.
Admit it: you and your friends have been kicked out of a Walmart AT LEAST once.
3. Almost everyone ends up going to the same college.
It's like...a never-ending cycle of being around the same people constantly. I mean, if that's what you're into...
4. Nosy neighbors, nosy teachers, nosy friends of your mom, nosy grocery store lady. NOSINESS.
When you live in a small town, someone is always watching you. Or asking about you. Or staring at you. They just gotta be all up in your business...
5. Driving with no destination because there's nothing else to do.
Whether it be by yourself or with your friends, driving around is a regular hobby. You usually end up in a random field or the woods.
6. Everyone has a bit too much hometown pride. (And they passionately hate the town a few miles over)
They care about high school football games more than high school education. And they will LITERALLY get into fist fights over the town 5 miles away from yours. (As if you two are really much different.)
7. Your imagination had to be big. It just had to.
We're not talking about the typical "don't touch the lava" game every kid played. We're talking about literally inventing an entire world of your own because you basically live in the middle of nowhere.
8. Spending your entire life wanting to get out.
And being completely terrified of being trapped. But then, you finally make your escape.
9. And then missing it once you leave.
You know it wouldn't be the same if you went back, but sometimes, your small town friends understood you a bit more. Eh, maybe it's just the nostalgia getting to you.
