A Lip Trend Fit For A Mermaid

There's a cool new lipstick technique that's been let loose in the beauty ocean, and it's a sparkly, metallic look fit for a mermaid. If you're looking for a daring new look to try, or just want to see what it's all about, let's dive in.

We're loving Refinery29's "Short-Cuts" lately, which provide 20-second bursts of beauty inspo to get us out of any beauty rut. This week, they posted this 'mermaid lips' tutorial:

We never thought we'd want to hear "scaly" and "lips" associated with each other, but we love the faux scales created here! The artist used a black liquid lipstick, a fish scale stencil (although a piece of a fishnet stocking will do) iridescent shadow, rhinestones, eyelash glue, tweezers and glitter to create this aqualicious look. Although this is obviously not 'wearable' for a normal function, try this look for a weird night out (after dinner, because who wants to accidentally chomp down on a rhinestone), an Instagram-shoot night in, or just because life's short and why not, right?
