Usually a relationship means two people committed to one another, right? That's what we learned from watching our grandparents and parents all these years. Well, that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. A recent survey showed that more and more people are into having open relationships. That's not to say they aren't all about their number one bae, it's just that they also don't see nothing wrong with having a known side piece. Even some of the most notable celebs have jumped on this, including Dr. Strange star Tilda Swinton.

Looking at Tilda, you know she's got a little bit of a freaky side to her. I mean, she once laid in a box, called it art and had people just come and look at her. She's a bit on the eccentric side, and when it comes to relationships she leans more towards the new normal. She not only has a man who put a ring on it, she also has a boyfriend. According to the threesome, they don't see anything wrong with that. Even our girl Mo’Nique has been vocal in the past about having relations with men who are not her husband. These two famous faces aren't the only ones though.

A YouGov survey asked 1,000 adults about this, and 17% of them admitted to having had sex with someone who is not their significant other - with permission of course. The permission makes all the difference between an open relationship and straight up cheating. Another survey from April done by the Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy reported one out of five Americans had been in one of these new open relationships. Times, they are a changing because even dating apps once used for singles to find love, but mostly hookups are switching things up. OKCupid is now allowing couples to link their separate accounts, so that other users know they are of the polyamorous nature.

Speaking of OKCupid, back when I was browsing that site I remember connecting with a guy whose girlfriend had suggested they be open. So that's why he was on, but when I suggested meeting up - he said he couldn't really go through with it because he couldn't do that to her. Whether or not he was just blowing me off, that's when open relationships seem a little greedy. If one partner is fully down and the other is just going along for the ride because they fear they'll lose their love if they don't agree to their polyamorous terms...how in the hell is that fair? You're free to do whatever you want but make sure that you are both down with the openness of things before you jump into that lifestyle because even though you want to step out, doesn't mean your partner's going to be fully into it.

When it comes to being in an open relationship, more and more people are starting to jump on that train. Even celebrated actors like Tilda Swinton and Mo’Nique don't see anything wrong with having a man and a boyfriend on the side. The only problem that comes with it is if all parties aren't one hundred percent comfortable with the situation at hand.
