Americans Aren't Having As Much Sex As They Used To
With the amount of apps out there for people to get their freak on, it is hard as hell to believe we're knocking boots a lot less than we were a decade ago. Here's the thing though, we are. According to a new study, Americans are having less sex than they were back in the '00s and '90s. Say what?!
A study published in the journal Archives Of Sexual Behavior laid out their results that were based off the responses of more than 26,000 people here in the U.S. Basically, we're not doing it as much as we once were. They reported people were having sex about nine fewer times per year than they were when Kurt Cobain was around.
When it came to the '00s, the study showed that long-term couples had even less sex than that. They were in bed with their partners 16 times fewer between 2010 and 2014 than they were when it came to couples in 2000 and 2004.
This is a damn travesty and it's not to say that all of us today are sitting there with our legs closed for business, but it does make us wonder...were our grandparents and parents way better at sex than us? According to this study they were, but why?
The people who put this altogether have a handful of theories from a rise in depression among millennials to the fact that we just have way more options for entertainment today than we did 10-20 years ago. When you break it down, that last one does make the most sense.
We live in a world of distractions, and that is why Americans are having less sex. How many times have you sworn you were going to bed and the next thing you know you're up at 2 in the morning taking personality quizzes? The same likely goes for sex.
We've transformed from a generation who was entertained by a keyboard cat video to one that is satisfied with a 30-second "story" on Snapchat. Weird to think that people would rather rock the Bee Filter instead of bang, but to each their own.
