Angelina Jolie Breaks Her Silence On Divorce From Brad: 'We Will Always Be A Family'
Divorce: it's never easy. Especially when the entire world is watching and perceives you and your ex as the "ideal couple."
Once news broke that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were getting a divorce, rumors starting spiraling out of control. Did Brad cheat with his co-star? Was their entire relationship a sham? Was Brad on drugs? Did he have abusive tendencies? Or did Angelina just want full custody?
Now, Jolie is finally putting those rumors to rest.
The 41-year-old actress spoke to BBC World News‘ Yalda Hakim in Cambodia. When asked about the divorce, she said it was "a very difficult time."
“I don’t want to say very much about that, except to say it was a very difficult time and… and we are a family and we will always be a family, and we will get through this time and hopefully be a stronger family for it,” she said.
If anything, Jolie wants to make one thing clear: if you're going through something similar, you are not alone.
“Many, many people find themselves in this situation,” she said. “My whole, my family… we’ve all being through a difficult time. My focus is my children, our children… and my focus is finding this way through. We are and forever will be a family. I am coping with finding a way through to make sure that this somehow makes us stronger and closer.”
While Jolie and her family have grown closer, they are having a hard time dealing with the day-to-day sometimes.
“It’s been a difficult few months. Right now, I’m going through a moment when just everybody’s in my room,” she said. “Two dogs, two hamsters and two children at the moment. It’s wonderful. But, usually, I just wake up trying to figure out who’s going to get [the] dog out, who’s going to start the pancakes and did anybody brush their teeth.”
One step at a time.
