Beloved ATL News Anchor Has Stroke In Airport On Way to Dad’s Funeral...Dies
Oh, wow. This is just horrible… Legendary Black news anchor Amanda Davis was on her way to San Antonio, Texas to attend her stepfather’s funeral on Wednesday, Dec 27. While waiting for the flight, she suffered a massive stroke and was rushed to the hospital. She died within hours.
Amanda's final Tweet:
Davis was a superstar in the field of journalism in Atlanta. After graduating from Clark Atlanta University, she became an anchor who served for over 26 years at various stations. At the time of her passing, the 62-year-old news pro was an anchor for CBS 46.
Her career included covering such momentous events as Coretta Scott King’s funeral and interviewing President Barack Obama. Davis’s reports garnered 10 Southeast Emmy Awards and an Edward R. Murrow Award.
Tributes have been pouring in.
As 2017 draws to a close, this story really makes you think—not unlike the passing of Carrie Fisher last Christmas and her mom Debbie Reynolds dying the very next day—that our time on this earth is not to be taken for granted…we need to remember that, and hug our families even closer.
