Audra McDonald & Gugu Mbatha-Raw Discuss The "Dream" Of 'Beauty & The Beast'
Entertainment Studios

Beauty and the Beast is less than a week away, sparking excitement all over the nation. While we've seen countless interviews and previews starring live action Belle Emma Watson, we've been craving the presence of the other supporting actors and actresses, like Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Audra McDonald.

Mbatha-Raw portrays one of the enchanted objects, “Plumette,” formerly known as Babette in the animated and Broadway version. McDonald on the other hand plays “Madame de Garderobe,” also known as "Madam Wardrobe."

The enchanted duo sat down with Entertainment Studios’ Jon Kelley to talk about their roles:

Mbatha-Raw felt it was very "liberating" to portray a more playful role.

“This is my first Disney film that I’ve ever been a part of,” Mbatha-Raw said. “But Disney’s been a part of my whole life. Growing up, I watched the original animation when I was about eight years old. I became so obsessed with it. The music just brings back this nostalgia and energy from my childhood which is really cool."

McDonald however, is familiar with more eccentric, character-y roles. She is a Broadway legend after all!

“[Having this role] just felt like I went from fifth cousin to maybe second cousin in the Disney family,” McDonald laughed. “It’s just a childhood dream come true.”

Beauty and the Beast will be in theaters March 17th.
