Babysitter Reportedly Killed 5-Month-Old By Throwing Him In A Playpen
Jacksonville's Sheriff Office

While this sounds like nothing but a scary story, sometimes, those stories can come to life.

A 5-month-old baby in Florida has died after his babysitter allegedly forcefully threw him into his playpen. Barbara Kendrick, 65, was charged with aggravated child abuse at first, while the infant was in the hospital with a fractured skull. After the child died in the hospital, the charge was changed to murder.

The parents of the child were busy at work on Tuesday morning, so they dropped their baby, Cooper, at Kendrick's house. Kendrick is a distant relative, so they figured they could trust her.

However, when they got home, their son had a fractured skull.

In a Tuesday press conference, Sgt. Jay Farhat said the babysitter confessed to throwing the child in his playpen because he was giving her a hard time while teething.

“It appears she got a little frustrated at some point, and lost her temper,” Farhat said. Frustrated is an understatement.

“Cooper was a beautiful baby and well loved by his parents,” a family friend, Jonathan Daugherty, wrote on a GoFundMe for the family. “This is truly a tragedy for this young married couple."

We hope the family finds closure and peace during this difficult time.
