Bad Pastor! 5 Dead, 13 Hospitalized After Congregation Takes Rat Poison To Show Faith
People. Drinking rat poison dissolved in water will kill you. Think about it. Most medicines and medical procedures are tested on lab rats. So if something is designed to kill them, then it will probably also kill you. Somebody should have said this to the South African congregation attending a Christian conference hosted by Grace Living Hope Ministries.
Pastor Light Monyeki encouraged his congregants to drink the rat poison to nourish their bodies, heal the sick, and "show forth their faith." according to the Ghana Star. And drink they did, which led to the confirmed deaths of five people and 13 others hospitalized in critical condition.
Bet you’re wondering how Monyeki got that many people to knowingly drink Rattex poison, right? Facebook posts on the church’s page give us some clues. They posted photos and everything.
"Then he declared life from above upon the water mixed with Rattax; and spoke nourishment unto bodies and healing unto the sick. A multitude of congregants voluntarily ran to the front to have a drink of the deadly poison. After declaring nourishment and healing, Prophet Light was the first one to drink," the church said.
Thankfully there are some sensible, moral, and sane people left in the world who proceeded to put a verbal foot up the pastor’s backside for pulling such a ridiculously dangerous stunt. Matladi Kolo said, "Go to hospitals and demonstrate the power of healing on people with strokes and people who are comatose. Do not poison people and call it act of power. The Lord said His people will be misled for they lack knowledge, let us be careful of false prophets!"
And Sampson Gyesbi Dankqa posted: "This pastor is SICK! Rat poison to your congregants? Have you tasted it? First heal yourself from whatever is causing you to feed your members with a deadly substance."
There were countless other comments like this one:
These poor lambs were led to slaughter being convinced that boy’s who smoke Nyaope, a highly addictive drug which contains rat poison, have survived for years. But, they were believers and death has no power over them. Well, apparently Rattex does because it causes internal hemorrhaging and these people bled to death.
In spite of all the clear evidence on Facebook, he has not been officially charged. Monyeki says that too much of a good thing is bad—you can’t blame him for what happened. Oh no? Everybody answers to somebody and in his line of work, he should never play God with people’s lives.
