Being trapped in an elevator is a terrifying thought. Being trapped in an elevator with Ben Carson, however, sounds like straight up torture.

Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson found himself getting stuck in an elevator on only his third stop during a two-day trip to Miami. Is it just us or does this seem like something that would only happen to Ben Carson?

According to the Miami Herald: “Carson, Miami-Dade County Public Housing Director Michael Liu and five other people got stuck inside an elevator Wednesday on the way down from a visit to the rooftop of the Courtside Family Apartments in Overtown.”

Carson was scheduled to meet with Miami Heat basketball legend Alonzo Mourning, whose nonprofit AM Affordable Housing developed the complex.

As Mourning anxiously waited in the building's lobby to meet with Carson, Carson was left stuck in the the elevator, or as we like to call it, "the sunken place."

Finally, Miami-Dade fire rescue arrived and opened the elevator's jammed doors. According to Carson, he still got the chance to meet with Mourning and discuss low income housing.

Remind us to never get into the same elevator as Ben Carson...
