Caitlyn Jenner Reveals She Underwent Sex Reassignment Surgery: I Feel 'Liberated'
Caitlyn Jenner is getting candid about her transition in her new tell-all, revealing she underwent male-to-female sex reassignment surgery earlier this year.
"The surgery was a success, and I feel not only wonderful but liberated,” the reality TV star and former Olympian writes in The Secrets of My Life, out April 25.
Jenner, 67, said she had the "Final Surgery" in January 2017, about two years after she announced her identity as a trans woman in an interview with Diane Sawyer, as RadarOnline.com noted.
Jenner had previously undergone a breast augmentation and facial feminization surgery in spring 2015.
Though the reassignment surgery was a "complex decision" for Jenner because it's a somewhat risky procedure, she ultimately decided to go through with it because she wanted to have "all the right parts."
"It’s just a penis," Jenner writes. "It has no special gifts or use for me other than what I have said before, the ability to take a whiz in the woods. I just want to have all the right parts."
"I am also tired of tucking the damn thing in all the time," she adds.
So why even go public about the whole ordeal? Jenner says she wanted to speak out about it so that nosy fans would stop asking about her private parts.
(Side note: Trans bodies are not "open for public dissection," as Janet Mock once put it. Please don't ever ask a trans man or woman about their nether regions.)
"I am telling you because I believe in candor. So all of you can stop staring," Jenner explains. "You want to know, so now you know. Which is why this is the first time, and the last time, I will ever speak of it."
Get it? Got it? Good.
