Can You Tell The Difference Between A Male Nipple And A Female Nipple?
Ever see a dude with man boobs flopping all over the internet, but Rihanna gets a photo pulled from Instagram cause there's some tasteful nipple showing? This is BS and a lot of people are sick of it.
Instagram's laws of boobs are confusing and borderline discriminatory. Though a guy can show full chest and nipple regardless of his breast size (and some guys are definitely a full cup size bigger than us) a woman can only show her nipple if it's post-mastectomy scarring, in a painting or sculpture, or in a baby's mouth (for feeding purposes only, of course). Now, a girl can have all the rest of her tit out, but if some areola peaks through, the picture's gone.
So, Genderless Nipples is fighting back. The Instagram account shows just nipples. Really, it's just boxes and boxes of nipples, but not in the creepy way like that one episode of Mad Men.
The point is not just to show off everybody's hot nips, but to prove that when the nipple is isolated, you can't possibly tell the gender. So if nipples are genderless, they shouldn't be censored on either sex.
Evelyne Wyss, Morgan-Lee Wagner, and Marco Russo created the account which is already up to about 61,000 followers. The creators talked to Buzzfeed about their immediate popularity. “We’ve never counted, but we get around 90 submissions daily, which is amazing,” said Wyss.
Though that's a lot of boob parts to have to sift through, it's all for a good cause. With gender fluidity gaining more mainstream attention and transgender rights becoming more and more important, these outdated censorship laws are insensitive and almost oppressive.
Plus, who's fighting to see fewer boobs? Isn't the porn market doing pretty well? It seems like people are willing to pay to see the whole tit, so giving it away for free probably wouldn't get too many complaints.
We don't want to give the impression that the Free the Nipple movement is at all related to porn (we like to bring up porn whenever we can, it's maybe a problem). Any picture with a nipple would most likely be completely asexual, just like seeing a shirtless gym pic of a dude.
Genderless Nipples isn't trying to bring more lewd sexuality to the internet, just equal rights for the sexes and freedom for everyone to be comfortable with their bodies.
