Cancer Patient Wins Lottery Jackpot, Feels Hope For Future Again
Talk about a rollercoaster of emotions. One woman has Stage 4 breast cancer and wasn't responding to treatment, but she just won the lottery jackpot and is now $1.5 million richer! Even better, she's finally responding to chemo.

The woman, Diane Bishop, definitely isn't your typical lottery winner. What would inspire a cancer patient to play the lottery in the first place?? Well, Bishop says she was having a hard time with the financial side of treatment.
It turns out that even in Canada, where they have universal health care, cancer patients have a pretty big financial burden. After all, Bishop wasn't able to stop working and focus on her health because government benefits would only add up to $1,100 a month -- barely enough for her mortgage!

She hadn't responded to multiple cancer treatments and wanted to go to Toronto to try experimental treatments there, but couldn't afford to leave her life and two sons behind. That's when her luck turned around.
One day, Bishop says she just had a strange feeling that she should play the lottery.
"It was weird. Something said, 'Buy a ticket' that day. I can't explain it."
The ticket was 20 bucks... and Bishop's gut feeling was right, because she won a whopping $1.5 million!
"We were all jumping and screaming. It was like, 'Oh my God, oh my God, we actually won this and our financial troubles are gone."

For Bishop, this win isn't about going on a shopping spree or retiring to Jamaica. Instead, she'll be able to use the funds to make her life as a cancer patient MUCH more hopeful. She can stop working, get any treatment she needs and provide her two sons with a stable future.
First thing she bought? A comfy new mattress to ease her aches and pains, and an electric chair to relax in while she recovers from chemo.

But the good news doesn't end there! After the lottery win, Bishop finally began to start responding to chemotherapy. Some of the cancer shrunk, and other injuries healed.
That means she doesn't have to go to Toronto after all, but instead can enjoy time with her family at home. It's like the best Christmas gift ever!
"It's like this big ball of weight has been lifted off my shoulders. The stress is gone, the anxiety of being sick, I know I can't beat Stage 4 because you're a ticking time bomb, but it's given me hope that maybe it can go dormant for awhile... and I can live my life."
Absolutely amazing.
