Chicago Mom Feeling Suicidal After Seeing Her 2 Sons Gunned Down In Front Of Her
A Chicago mother is left devastated after witnessing a man enter the restaurant she works at in the South Side and open fire, killing four men, including two of her sons.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the four men were shot around 3:50 p.m. on Thursday at the Nadia Fish and Chicken restaurant. Police believe the shooting was caused by a gang-related conflict.
Dillion Jackson, 20, was found dead inside of the restaurant while his brother, Raheem Jackson, 19, was found dead slumped up against a tree.
The Jackson boys' mother exited the restaurant after the scene, still wearing her red apron, crying and pounding her fists. Their grandmother, Georgia Jackson, has stayed strong throughout the devastating situation, speaking to the press while their mother grieves.
"I didn't have kids to lose them like this," Jackson said.
While this situation is horrendous, it is the latest murder in a series of shooting deaths. In 2016, the Windy City had 3,550 reported shooting incidents and 762 murders. That's ten shootings and two murders every single day. In fact, another shooting happened on the South Side on Thursday as well.
"You lose count of the shootings after a while," Kyra Carr, a woman who lives a few blocks away from the restaurant, told the Chicago Sun-Times. "But seven bodies in a day. Crazy. Something is wrong."
The heartbroken mother of the Jackson boys doesn't feel like she can cope with the tragic death of her two sons.
“I can’t go on, my life is over. I’m ’bout to goddamn kill myself,” she told the Tribune. “I was standing right here in the window, they killed ’em right in front of me.”
We can't even imagine how she feels. We're sending all of our love and strength to the Jackson family.
