The World's Ugliest Color Has Been Revealed
If we were to ask you what you think the ugliest color in the world is, what would you say? Lime green or olive green? A fluorescent orange? A dusty beige color, perhaps? How about...a muddy sewage-tinted olive green? Also known as PANTONE 448 C? According to research company GfK, that is officially the worlds ugliest color. Ew.
Researchers have finally found the 'worlds ugliest color.' It's been described as dirty, tar, and....even death. Take a look for yourself. Gross, right?

We found this photo on Pantone.
You might wonder how researchers even came to this conclusion in the first place. And why did they want to find out such a thing anyways? Their reasoning may surprise you.
Colors obviously play an important part in our moods and over all well-being. They shape every advertisement you see and every business you walk into. Would you rather instagram your latte on a pastel table in a cute white mug or a scratched up green mug on a dirty beige table? Every time you buy a product, you're paying attention to the colors...even if you don't realize it.
That's what this entire study is about. Government-hired Australian research agency GfK surveyed over 1,000 smokers to figure out what color would look the most repulsive on health warnings. Because, you know, the ugliest packaging means possibly less smokers. Other countries have looked into this as well and we're praying it gets to America soon.
PANTONE 448 C won the 'worlds ugliest color' competition, but there were a lot of other colors up for consideration.
We're talking lime green, mustard, dark gray, white and beige. Dark brown was also considered for the worlds ugliest color but the rich undertones seemed to appetizing and classy.
So, there you have it folks. Olive green is officially the worlds ugliest color. Well, at least that's what the Australian government called the color until they got a hilarious letter from the Australian Olive Association. They then changed the name to 'drab dark brown,' because they wanted to make sure they weren't ruining olives reputation. Do you think PANTONE 448 C is the worlds ugliest color? Or do you have another shade on your mind?
