#StayWoke: Couple Takes A Knee With Their Bridal Party Then Say I Do!

The #TakeAKnee protest is ALL over the news these days and has made its way from football stadiums to practically everywhere. We’re hella inspired, and this New York couple is too! They even incorporated the protest into their wedding photography.

The couple, Arielle and John, tied the knot in New York. They showed off their commitment to equal treatment under the law in one of the most unique wedding shots you’ll ever lay eyes on.

Photographer Carolina Rivera captured Arielle and John in Long Island, NY with their entire wedding party. The WHOLE wedding party is taking a knee. The bridesmaids, groomsmen, and even the flower girl are on one knee, with expressions of serious determination on their face. 

Not to mention, the couple is simply gorgeous and the photography is SO well done. This #woke couple is thriving! These folks are looking royal, blessed and healthy. #Respect

A lot of people misunderstand what #TakeAKnee is all about. When former San Francisco quarter back, Colin Kaepernick,  took a knee during the National Anthem during the 2016 season, he did it not to show disrespect to the anthem, but to make a statement about police brutality. That’s what this movement is really all about.

Kaep’s protest drew a lot of attention to the issue, with many athletes and celebs showing support and #45 himself going off on Twitter about it.

However, it’s not just celebrities who can make a statement by taking a knee. This simple gesture can be extremely powerful when used by just about anyone. Arielle and John made that clear when they dreamt up this #woke photo shoot!

 This couple chose to REMEMBER the struggle and more importantly, what they’re going to do about it during the most important moment of their lives.
