This is how you kill an interview.

D.L. Hughley appeared on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah on Thursday night, and his takes on politics, comedy, and his late friend Charlie Murphy are 100 percent on point.

Trevor’s obviously a fan of D.L.’s -- “I’ve watched your comedy all my life” – and their banter is completely on point. But what really fuels the interview is when they dive into more serious topics.

“If we were going to hire a reality star to be President,” quips D.L., “it shouldn’t have been one from The Apprentice, it should be one from Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader.” Or how about this one: “If you have a pre-existing condition, like type-2 diabetes, and you voted for Trump, that means you hate black people more than you like your feet.”

And then there’s this priceless gem about the recent scandal surrounding Trump’s firing of FBI Director Comey, who was investigating the President’s ties to Russia. “If I could fire the guy who was coming to give me a ticket…”

It’s not all politics though. Trevor transitions the talk into D.L.’s upcoming comedy tour, and they discuss honesty in comedy: “I do think there is a natural inclination for people who are having an honest discourse,” says D.L. “You’re entitled to have a divergent opinion.“

The entire interview is full of great quotes – at one point, D.L. tell Trevor, “You’re such a bright, well-read dude, I knew you weren’t from America” -- so definitely check out the full clip below, if for no other reason than the hysterical Charlie Murphy story at the end!
