Danielle Brooks is one of the most outspoken celebrities of the past five years. Getting her start on Netflix's Orange Is The New Black, Brooks has been an active player in the film, television, theater, and modeling scene. While she is still a cast member on the Netflix hit show, Brooks was also on Broadway in The Color Purple alongside Jennifer Hudson. Not to mention, she has multiple Screen Actors Guild Awards and is one of the faces of Lane Bryant.

Fairly new to the modeling game, Brooks is a champion for plus-sized models, urging that they receive better representation in the global mainstream media. According to Brooks, 67 percent of women are overweight and shopping in plus-size outlets. With such a high percentage, wouldn't it make sense for them to receive 67 percent of the media representation?

Seems logical, yet it is not what is happening. You know it. I know it. Brooks knows it. Which is precisely why she is going hard after the modeling industry and their lack of plus-sized models.

Most notably, Brooks went on a Twitter tirade in mid-December of last year about America's Next Top Model. The popular show has been on the air for as long as I can remember and, not once, have they featured a plus-sized model. Brooks commented on the lack of body diversity on the show to point out a larger problem within the industry.

Only one percent of the world fits the body standards set by models, so why are they so prevalent in our media outlets? That is exactly what Brooks is trying to find out. There are other standards of beauty, and Danielle Brooks is someone who will continue to fight for the representation of plus-sized bodies. She wants girls who look like her to feel like their bodies are just as beautiful as anyone else's. Danielle, you go girl!
