Do This One Thing Daily And You Are Bound To Have Happier Relationship
Saying "thank you" isn't just good manners. This simple act has the power of saving our relationships. Seriously!
According to relationship expert Andrea Syrtash, showing gratitude is the key to a long-lasting healthy relationship. Syrtash wrote an essay for Glamour explaining why it's so critical for couples to express thanks on a daily basis.
She explains that a common factor in failed relationships is partners feeling like they aren't being listened to, or that their opinions aren't being respected. Think about an argument you may have had that lead to a breakup; were you both listening to what you both had to say, or were you talking over each other and trying to prove you were right?
Because listening and understanding your partner is so crucial, saying thanks and expressing gratitude to your loved one is the simplest thing you can do every day to build a strong relationship. He did the dishes? Hit him with a "Thanks, boo!" He had a hard day at work? Do something special to acknowledge this. Communicate to him that you would like the same daily appreciation done for you. It doesn't have to be an elaborate celebration or a huge deal. It just has to be sincere and consistent.
