Going Through A Breakup? It's Time to Get Off Your Ass & Do These 15 Things

Wallowing in self-pity never actually helped a sister move past a breakup. Believe me, I've been there. Do you know what you gotta do? 

That's step 1. Hanging out on your ass all day does nothing but make your ass fat, and not in the good way. Once you drag yourself back to society, here are 15 things you can do to BEAT. THIS. BREAKUP.

1. Disconnect with him on social media

Don't give yourself the chance to Facebook stalk or drunkenly Snapchat. It's just not worth it. Part of accepting it's over is not allowing yourself to constantly try to observe his life or reconnect with him. 

2. Say "no" to breakup sex

A dude will always try and get you to hook up with him one final time. Don't you dare fall for it. The term "breakup sex" is oxymoronic to the point of offensive. You're better than that. One more night of passion with a dude you just ended things with MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE!

3. Get drunk WITH friends

Drinking alone is sad, and will probably end up with you drunk-dialing his number (maybe you should think about deleting his number too!). But drinking with your friends who have always been there for you feels incredible! It's like your real-life version of "Sex and the City." Boyfriends come and go; girlfriends are forever.

4. Watch a funny movie

Why would you watch "Titanic" or "The Notebook"? You're already sad enough as it is! You need to Netflix-and-Chill with something that's seriously hilarious. My top picks would be "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion," "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," and "The Hangover."

5. Start a new workout program

Ideally, you take a class like boxing or krav maga, something during which you can unleash all your anger and aggression. Get mean. Get nasty. And burn TONS of calories!

6. Create a fierce single-girl playlist

Songs to include: "Stronger" by Britney Spears, "Since U Been Gone" by Kelly Clarkson, "Survivor" by Destiny's Child, and "You Oughta Know" by Alanis Morissette. 

7. Plan a vacation somewhere FABULOUS

Get the heck outta town and go soak up the Caribbean sun, walk the Great Wall of China, experience an African Safari...there's a whole world out there. Go see it!

8. Volunteer

Helping others is great because you're doing something for people in need and making yourself feel better. It's a post-breakup WIN-WIN!

9. Shop till you drop

I have yet to encounter an issue in life that cannot be solved with a fantastic pair of shoes.

10. Do a face mask

Grab a class of wine. Lather on a face mask. Binge-watch "Scandal." Sounds like an equation for the perfect evening.

11. Read a book

You need to start a new chapter (pun intended) in your life. Finding the perfect book is an awesome way to chase your escapist fantasies during this difficult time. 

12. Spa day

You deserve to be pampered. You deserve to relax. You deserve a freakin' spa day!

13. Drastic hair cut

Taking a beauty risk may be just the jolt of excitement your life needs. A radically new hairstyle will help you see yourself in a whole new way - a hot lady who's single and ready to mingle!

14. Have a hot one-night stand

You don't have to marry the dude! But having some sexy times late at night will definitely distract you from the pain of a breakup. The hotter the guy, the more distracting the night.
