Donald Trump Reignites A Twitter Feud With London's Mayor As The City Continues To Grieve

No wonder the White House communications director just quit.

In the wake of this weekend's deadly terror attack in London, President Donald Trump went on Twitter to lash out at the grieving British city's mayor not once, but twice.

The number of times Trump offered his condolences? Exactly zero.

"At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is 'no reason to be alarmed!' " Trump wrote early Sunday morning.

As CNN pointed out, Trump had taken one of Mayor Sadiq Khan's statements totally out of context.

A day earlier, Khan had made the following statement about increased police presence following the attack: "Londoners will see an increased police presence today and over the course of the next few days," he said. "No reason to be alarmed."

Instead of just owning up to his mistake, Trump went ahead and attacked Khan again, continuing to twist his words (and trying to throw the media under the bus in the process, of course).

"Pathetic excuse by London Mayor Sadiq Khan who had to think fast on his 'no reason to be alarmed' statement," Trump tweeted Monday morning. "MSM is working hard to sell it!"

For his part, Khan continues to take the high road: In an interview with the BBChe said he wouldn't let Trump "divide our community."

Earlier, Khan's spokesman had said that he "has more important things to do than respond to Donald Trump's ill-informed tweet that deliberately takes out of context" the mayor's statement. Sounds reasonable.
