Estranged Husband Reportedly Killed His Wife And 7 Friends Because 'He Wasn't Moving On & She Was'
Meredith Hight was ready to live her best life. After being trapped inside of an unsatisfying marriage, she was beyond excited to reclaim her identity and embrace the new adventures ahead of her. That was all taken away from her when her estranged husband, Spencer Hight, went on a deadly rampage and shot her and seven of her friends at a Dallas Cowboys viewing party.
The Plano Police Department confirmed that Spencer Hight, 32, was the gunman that fatally shot his spouse Meredith Hight, 27, as well as seven others in the worst mass shooting in the city’s history.
“We’ve never had a shooting of this magnitude,” Plano Police Chief Gregory Rushin told reporters. “We’re one of the safest cities in the country. It’s just a terrible event, and our hearts go out to the families and loved ones.”

And while the people of Plano are still taking everything in, Meredith's family is absolutely devastated.
“She was our only child,” her father, Gene Lane, told the Washington Post. “All we know is she is gone.”
Meanwhile, Meredith's mother Debbie claims Spencer reacted the way he did because he was bitter.
“It was officially ‘out with the old and in with the new,’ ” Debbie told local station WFAA. “It was her reclaiming her life, and she was thrilled to be doing that. It was the happiest she’d been in years. Years. I think he saw our comfort, ease, and happiness … and her embracing new life, and resented it to the maximum and responded the way he did. He was not moving on. And she was.”
