Emails can be a person's downfall, as Hillary Clinton — and now British soccer star David Beckham — know quite well.

Beckham was recently the target of an alleged $2.5 million blackmail plot, which exposed emails that paint him as someone who desperately wants to get knighted — even going as far as exploiting his charity work with UNICEF in order to do so.

"Humanitarian causes were just a stepping stone for his personal affairs, and to project his image among advertisers," one unnamed insider told The Daily Mail.

The emails also allege Beckham, 41, went on a profane rant to his PR chief and friend Simon Oliveira about the UK's Honours Committee after it rejected his nomination for knighthood in 2014:

"They’re a bunch of c*nts I expected nothing less... Who decides on the honors? It’s a disgrace to be honest and if I was American I would of (sic) got something like this 10 years ago," Beckham allegedly wrote. "It’s pissed me off those old unappreciative c*nts." (Tell us how you really feel...)

According to The Daily Mail, one email to Oliveira implies Beckham turned down any other lesser awards in his quest to get knighted: "Unless it's a knighthood f*ck off," he supposedly wrote.

The emails, which were first published by a site called Football Leaks, have been dismissed as false by Beckham's spokesman.

"This story is based on outdated material and taken out of context from hacked and doctored private emails from a third party server and gives a deliberately inaccurate picture," Beckham's rep said.

Beckham himself reportedly told friends this weekend that he's just a "normal person" who was "extremely disappointed’ at being passed over for a knighthood."

Let's hope the ordeal turns out to be nothing — because if these allegations are true, Beckham's reputation may be done for.
