This is just so tragic—a young couple, in love and looking forward to the future—were killed in a single-car crash when their SUV hit a curb and flipped. In an instant, their future was gone.

Former NBA player Rasual Butler, 38, and his wife, former American Idol singer Leah LaBelle, 31, died early Wednesday morning, Jan 31st, at about 2:20 a.m.

According to NBC Los Angeles, citing police, the car Butler was in was going two or three times over the speed limit.

Butler played for a number of teams during 13 seasons in the NBA — including the Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat, and Los Angeles Clippers — and he finished his career with the San Antonio Spurs in the 2015-16 season.

Everyone from Shaquille O'Neal to Kobe Bryant took to their social media to express their condolences and memories about Butler.

Just days before his death, Butler posted tributes via Instagram to the two most important women in his life, his wife and his daughter.  To his daughter he said, in part: "I love you with every single element of human anatomy that allows me to be here in the physical as your father, friend, partner and inspiration for everything driving me to be the ultimate best version of me."

Please, fam—remember to stick to the speed limit, even when there are no other cars on the road. Be careful out there.

Our prayers go out to Rasual and Leah and our condolences to their loved ones. #RIP
