The internet’s running wild with speculation that Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid have finally gotten engaged, thanks to new additions to their hands!

Let’s start with Zayn. The former One Direction star was spotted in New York city by the paparazzi, who managed to capture this shot:

Check out his right hand. You can see some fresh ink spelling “love” all the way across his knuckles.

Of course, tattoos are nothing new for Malik. Some estimates put his total number of body art pieces at over 50, so getting a little something new for 2017 isn’t all that surprising.

But here’s the thing. The day before, Gigi got caught in public sporting some new jewelry. Look at her left hand:

Yes, that’s her ring finger. Yes, that’s a shiny gold band. Put two and two together, combine it with Zayn’s new ink, and fans of the couple have concluded that they’re engaged!

Per usual, nobody who knows anything has actually confirmed this. It could just be that Gigi’s trying out some new bling, and Zayn’s practically covered in ink – what’s one more word scribbled on his hand? Others point out that the couple have been together less than two years, and Malik only ended his engagement with Perrie Edwards in August 2015. It may be a little soon yet for these two to tie the knot.
