'Drop Dead Gorgeous' Jersey Girl Kills The Competition And Shows Up To Prom In A Coffin
Megan Flaherty wants to be a funeral director. Can you tell?
The 17 year old stunned her fellow high school juniors of 2017 by arriving at their New Jersey prom in an open coffin.

The container was just a prop, and AP reports that Megan checked with her date to make sure he was on board before staging their grand entrance.
Apparently he was game, since he helped her out of the hearse and then held her hand like Prince Charming as she stepped out of the coffin.

Also on hand to assist was a family friend (the gentleman in the top-hat) who owns the hearse. This is not even the first time he helped out Megan's family with a macabre prom, it turns out Megan's brother took the hearse to his dance, too. Unlike his sister, though, he did not arrive at prom in a coffin.
The kids of Pennsauken High School seemed to enjoy the stunt. Some can be heard cheering enthusiastically in the video, which quickly made the rounds online.
Social media responded with its predictable rainbow of reactions, from those who thought the move was inspired or at least cute, to those who thought it was downright classless and irresponsible.

Flaherty's mother took the bait and responded to the trolling with a Facebook post. She explained that the family friend is her daughter's mentor and that Megan has already chosen her career, picked a school and volunteered at a funeral home.
“No disrespect meant ... just a celebration of knowing what she wants to do with her life after graduation and of course, celebrating Junior Prom.”
For Megan's part, the teen says she just wanted to have fun.
“Anything people do these days, people judge it,” she noted wisely to NJ.com. “People have opinions.”
This girl seems like she has a good head on her shoulders. And hey, if she really does grow up to be a funeral director, going to prom in a coffin could be the most brilliant marketing move she ever pulls.

Check out the video to hear the reception Megan and her date got, and see how young, innocent and happy they look. Way to make an entrance, guys.
