Diddy Set To Offer H&M Child Model $1 Million Contract: "Put Some Respect On It!"
Welp, fam, there just might be something good to come out of that horrible hoodie ad H&M ran in their new 2018 clothing catalog. #WhenLifeGivesYouLemons
Yep, when the Swedish retailer posted a photo showing a young Black child wearing a hoodie with the message “Coolest Monkey in the Jungle” the shitstorm was swift and severe.
But there might be something good to come out of this...at least for the model.
According to the British newspaper Metro, superstar Diddy is set to offer the little boy shown in H&M’s racist ad a lucrative modeling contract for a million dollars at his own clothing company, Sean John.
Diddy hasn’t commented on the rumored contract, but he came to the boy’s defense on Instagram the other day by posting a modified picture of the young model with the caption reading “Coolest King in the World.”
Diddy wrote, “Put some respect on it!! When you look at us, make sure you see royalty and super natural God sent glory!! Anything else is disrespectful.”
H&M has apologized but they’re already lost some major celebrity endorsements. The Weeknd and G-Eazy have ended their partnership with the clothing store, while YG, Pusha T and T.I. have all voiced their disapproval of the tone-deaf ad as well. Still others have posted pictures of the all-white Board of Directors.
We hope this new modeling gig does come about for the still-unidentified young man…at least he’ll be known for something other than being in a stupid, outrageous and racist photo.
However, a lot of folks have been wondering how his parents could ever have approved such an obviously racist ad. Where where they when the photos were taken? Did they actually sign off the finished image?
So...the question is: If Diddy does offer the kid $1 million, will it be put in a trust, so his parents can't get at it?
What do you think of all this, fam? Weigh in here!
