#Heartbreak: Lady Gaga Opens Up On Split From Taylor Kinney

We want to make a ‘Bad Romance’ joke here, but we’re still too sad.

Lady Gaga just opened up about her split from longtime fiancée Taylor Kinney, and says a lot of that heartbreak went into the writing of her latest album, Joanne.

The pop goddess sat down with CBS Sunday Morning for a wide ranging interview about the album, her development as an artist, and of course, her love life. It’s the latter that has all the Little Monsters holding back tears today.

After 5 years, Kinney and Gaga called things off this past summer. It might have been the most amicable split in celebrity history – at least publically. Gaga put on Instagram, “Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates. Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break.

“We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared. Please root us on. We’re just like everybody else and we really love each other.”

But for months, that’s all the information anyone’s had on the ex-couple. So when asked about the relationship on national morning television, Gaga opened up just a little bit further:

“I think women love very hard. We love men. We just love with everything we have. And sometimes I don’t know that that love is met with the type of dignity that we wish it would be met with.

“You know, we’re not trying to make you less of a man. We just want you to love us as deeply and as wholesomely and as fully as we love you.”
