Here's What It's Really Like To Live With 2 Vaginas

Sometimes, it feels like the gods have cursed women. From Mike Pence's anti-female healthcare stance to our period cramps, being a woman is really fucking hard these days. Can you even imagine what it would be like to have two vaginas?

I know I sure as hell cannot, but for Nicci, she had to live with two vaginas for most of her life. She went into her OBGYN when she was seventeen only to find out that the reason that her period cramps were so atrocious was because she had two vaginas. 

How is that even possible, you ask. Well, Nicci had quite literally two of everything, and the uteri were essentially stacked on top of one another. 

She said it was difficult and painful to have sex with her boyfriends, and that a difficult conversation would precede each new sexual conquest. While these were few, Nicci was fortunate enough to find a loving boyfriend who understood and later became her husband. 

The pair tried to conceive, but, due to her condition, Nicci had three miscarriages. At one point, she was menstruating for 6 months and was unable to wear a normal pad and she couldn't use tampons because of her condition. Instead, Nicci had to use adult Depends diapers. Can you imagine what that does to a person's self-image? 

While thoughts of suicide did transgress through her mind, Nicci opted to stay alive for her family. She spoke with her doctor about having a double hysterectomy and was met with no push back from her. A few months later, Nicci had all reproductive organs taken out. 

A classic catch-22, this decision also meant that she would be unable to have her own children. Her husband stood by her decision because it would lead to a happy and healthier life for the woman he loves. The pair have decided to look into adoption, but, for now, they are perfectly content hanging out with their two dogs. 

For dealing with this as long as she did, Nicci is a true inspiration. I know that if I bled for more than a week and a half that I would start to spiral mentally. Six months, diapers, and painful sex make Nicci a fighter!
