President Donald Trump had an eventful day Monday, to say the least. To recap, per Raw Story:
- FBI Director James Comey publicly confirmed, for the first time, that his agency is conducting an investigation into the Trump campaign's ties to the Russian government;
- Comey confirmed (again) that Russia meddled in the 2016 presidential election with the specific goal of helping Trump become president;
- Both Comey and NSA director Mike Rogers refused to deny that there was no evidence that Trump's campaign had colluded with Russia; and
- Comey said he and Rogers have no proof that former President Barack Obama illegally wiretapped Trump Tower last fall, as Trump claimed earlier this month.
All of today's events led Morning Joe cohost Joe Scarborough to make a bold statement on Twitter: That Monday has been "the worst day of Donald Trump's presidency."
Trump and Scarborough have had quite the on-again, off-again relationship, though lately it's been leaning toward the "off-again" side. In February, Scarborough and his MSNBC cohost, Mika Brzezinski, banned senior White House adviser Kellyanne Conway from their show for lacking credibility. As a result, Trump unfollowed them on Twitter — though considering Scarborough's "worst day" tweet, that's probably for the best.
