Talk show star Hoda Kotb has officially replaced Matt Lauer as a co-anchor on Today, and will be doing the exact same job…but will she be taking home the same pay? Nope! Not even close.

Page Six reports that Hoda is getting $7 million a year, which is equal to colleague Savannah Guthrie. Lauer was reportedly making $25 million annually. Wow…that’s A LOT LESS.

Kotb had been filling in for Lauer since November 29 when he was fired for sexual misconduct. Kotb and Guthrie have consistently led the competition in ratings, earning Today higher total viewer numbers now than with Lauer.

So…doesn’t that count for a Lauer-like payday? Guess not!

Well, maybe she doesn’t mind. A source told the Page Six, “Hoda isn’t complaining about the money. She has landed the big job she always dreamed of, and most definitely deserves. Plus, Matt’s salary reflected the long time he was on the show—25 years. If things go well, Hoda could ask for more next time if she re-ups her contract.”

Kotb confirmed it to People magazine, saying, “I think the whole money thing for me, I’ve always been sort of—I know it sounds ridiculous that I’m going to say this, but I really have done jobs I liked for the job I liked, because I never wanted to be happy every other Friday on pay day. Like, I didn’t want that to be the happy day. I wanted to feel good throughout. So no, I’m not making Matt Lauer money. Not even close.”

Kotb and Guthrie are the first female anchoring duo in Today history…so, that counts for something! #trailblazer

Thoughts? Should Hoda be paid more or is having her dream job fine if she's fine with it? Weigh in fam.
