Homeless Man Gets a Major Come-Up After He Returns Lost $10,000

Sometimes good deeds do pay off. One homeless man in Connecticut has definitely learned that lesson, since one simple act of kindness has led to a whole new life for him!

The man, Elmer Alvarez, was walking along the street one day when he found a $10,000 check in an envelope. He tracked down the woman who it was made out to, Roberta Hoskie, by googling her name and finding a phone number.

Alvarez and Hoskie met up on a street corner and he returned the check. She told him that she would repay him for his good deed. 

You can imagine how relieved Hoskie was -- a check for $10,000 is not something you want to just leave lying around! 

Hoskie, a successful realtor, decided to offer the man free schooling at her real estate school so that he can have a career of his own.

Then she delivered even more good news -- she has secured housing for Alvarez too! 

"You don't have to worry about being in the cold," she said in an emotional moment.

Alvarez was brought to tears. "Thank God!" 

Hoskie also managed to get Alvarez a job interview with one of her business partners. Alvarez says he wasn't expecting any of this when he returned the check. He was just trying to be a stand-up citizen.

"Honestly, I give it from the bottom of my heart and I expect nothing in return."

Nobody deserves to be without a home, but it's especially hard to see someone on the street when they clearly have a good soul!

Hoskie can relate to Alvarez' situation because she too was homeless at different times during her teenage years. She's trying to pay her good fortune forward by helping out Alvarez, and hopes he'll do the same one day:

"When you get on your feet, you go ahead and you do it for the next person and the next person and the next person," Hoskie told him.

Hopefully, Alvarez makes the most of this opportunity and nails his interview and schooling. So heartwarming!
