How do you hide 2500lbs of weed, how about in a carrot shipment?

The old saying “It’s what’s on the inside that counts”, certainly applies to here.

What happens when you mix a shipment of carrots and marijuana, a new and clever way of drug trafficking.That’s right, it has been discovered that drug traffickers were trying to smuggle half a billion dollars’ worth of marijuana from Mexico disguise as, you guess it carrots.The drugs were wrapped in orange plastic designed to look like carrots. There were over 3000 carrot look a likes.These carrot wannabes were added to a shipment of real carrots being delivered to the United States. Imagine the surprise when the trucks reached the checkpoint and the cargo in the trucks was more than what meets the eye. A scanning device at the checkpoint raised a red flag as to the content in some of the carrots and as a result of this drug sniffing dogs were brought in to sniff out the fakes from the real.

Way to go drug smugglers, as if we didn’t already have enough to worry about when it can to the content of our food, now this.
