Are We BFFs Or BFFs For Now: How To Tell If Your Best Friend Is Using You
The greatest people in the world are your best friends.
They'll celebrate life's most triumphant moments alongside of you and see you through its darkest moments. From nasty rumors, they'll defend you, and from phony byotches, they'll protect you.
But what happens when one of those so-called phony byotches disguises herself as a friend? How are you supposed to tell if your "friend" really isn't a friend at all, but rather, a leech that's attached herself to you for personal gain?
Ewwwww is right. Here are some surefire signs that someone you considered a friend has morphed into something far more sinister. If you know someone who meets these criteria, then you must dismiss her from your life. Ain't nobody got time for that.
Sign #1: She's only there for the fun times
Good times with friends is one of life's greatest joys. But any true friend knows that life won't always be fun and games. Someone who's in it for the long haul will be there for you, whether it's a FABULOUS birthday party, or a horrendous breakup. Remember the "Friends" theme song?
Those 6 were so real it hurt! I still wish I could've been in that group.
The faux-friend only shows up for the birthday party, and then magically disappears during the breakup. She'll resurface...as soon as you have another party. A fair-weather friend is a phony. Plain and simple.
Call it like you see it. You deserve better than fake hussies.
Sign #2: She talks smack behind your back
What an effin' coward! If she isn't brave enough to say something to your face, she isn't decent enough to be your friend. The shifty talkers must be ousted from your friend circle immediately.
Sign #3: She competes against you rather than works with you
Heading out for a night on the town? Your true friend will help you look hot enough to be deemed worthy by The Fashion Police. Your pseudo-friend will make sure she looks hotter than you, perhaps even going as far as to sabotage your outfit. Loving ladies stick together. Petty ladies try to claw their way to the top any way they can, even if it means pissing on you and claiming it's rain. You're better than that girl!
And stay out!
Sign #4: She's not into forgiving you
Guess what? People make mistakes! Friends must learn to forgive each other, to move on from it, to let their relationship grow from mistakes rather than be defined by them. But the girl who only wants things from you will use your mistake as the first chance to jump ship. My recommendation? Let that garden hoe jump and drown in her own sea of lies and deceit.
Sign #5: She can't keep her dang mouth shut about your business
If you tell a secret to your friend, you rightly expect her to keep her mouth shut about it. But this bad boo will divulge your secrets if it gets her in with another person. Remember, she's a slimy leech, taking what she can from you until she moves onto some else.
Sometimes, you gotta call a spade a spade.
Sign #6: She forgets your birthday
If she has to look on Facebook to know when your birthday is, you can show her the door and hope it hits her on the way out. I'm dead serious. A real friend should know the day that marks your fabulous entrance into this world.
But you were! And you should be duly celebrated for that every year, surrounded by your REAL friends.
