If These "Harry Potter" Characters Ran For President, I'd Vote For Them

For those of you who haven't heard because you live in the Forbidden Forest, there's a major election coming up in November - a presidential election. But I'll let the folks at Fox News and CNN duke it out over which candidate seems most suited for the White House. Instead, I'll look to J.K. Rowling's magical world for my perfect candidate.

1. Hermione Granger

If you don't think she'd make a good president, then you clearly haven't read the "Harry Potter" series. Granger would be a smart (like really smart) and compassionate leader who fights for everyone's rights (let's not forget S.P.E.W.).

2. Albus Dumbledore

Yes, I know Professor Dumbledore has passed away (please don't make me cry). But I'm willing to let him be the president from his portrait. His huge brain is matched only by his huge heart. Also, I want to hear what clever passwords he comes up with for the White House.

3. Minerva McGonagall

As Head of Gryffindor House, McGonagall is always brave in the face of danger. She's loyal to the side of good and is an extremely skilled witch who I hope will transfigure the world for the better.

4. Neville Longbottom

He may be a little nerdy, but he has such a beautiful soul. He's not afraid to make some mistakes, and let's be honest, every president would benefit from having a remembrall.

5. Percy Weasley

I get he betrayed his family and everyone hates him. But in the end, Percy does come around, and that's why I have the utmost respect for him. It takes true strength to realize you were wrong and try to course-correct your life. That kind of humility is what our White House needs.

6. Fawkes

Can a phoenix be president? I mean, if there was ever one, it would most certainly be Fawkes. She will show up in the nick of time, just when you need her. And she can't die, so the Secret Service would get 4-8 years off.

7. Oliver Wood

The captain of a champion Quidditch team knows how to lead. Plus, he'd make a great commander-in-chief because, as keeper, he knows how to protect an area from invading quaffles and bludgers.

8. Angelina Johnson

I'm going with another Quidditch player, but how can I not support Angelina's presidential run?! She's a strong competitor and knows how to motivate her troops, I mean Quidditch players. As a chaser, she is willing to go after the prize. I'm guessing she'll get it.

9. The Sorting Hat

I just want to hear the song it would sing at the Inaugural Ball. Also, this hat is quite skilled at making important decisions.

10. Professor Trelawney

Divination, even when poorly performed, is a helpful skill for the president to have. Also, can you imagine Trelawney as president?! I can't stop laughing.
