If You Love Beer AND Yoga Then You're About to Love This Latest Workout Craze!
Ever have those days where you're just not in the mood to workout and would rather grab a drink and call it a night instead?
Well, now you don't have to choose, because Beer Yoga (aka BierYoga) has become the latest workout fad that let's you combine both and it's taking the nation by storm.
According to Mashable, the phenomenon started in Germany by founder and certified yoga teacher, Jhula, who first spotted the concept at the popular spiritual gathering known as Burning Man. It's also made its way down under in Australia as well.
"BeerYoga is fun but it's no joke," the yogi enthusiast said. "We take the philosophies of yoga and pair it with the pleasure of beer-drinking to reach your highest level of consciousness."
Pretty ironic considering most twenty-somethings consume the alcoholic beverage to get unconscious.
In a hour-long class, you'll go through traditional yoga poses with your brew by your side. Poses such as Sun Salutation, where you raise your bottle straight above your head and Tree Pose, where you balance your pint on your head, which uses your malt beverage as a prop. Then later on, you can reward yourself by taking a sip during Eagle Pose.
It's taught at a beginner-friendly pace so both newbies and seasoned yogis can keep up, and features paired moves too.

While skeptics (aka anti-beer lovers) have their doubts, it's actually been proven that having a post-workout beer is pretty harmless (and thus encouraged).
In fact, this study shows rehydrating with a cold brewski post workout could aid your recovery time. Plus, the bubbles in beer supposedly help quench the thirst.

However, I'm not quite sure those studies apply to those who chug a cold one during a workout. Being that yoga is all about balance and concentration, I'm not convinced one could master Eagle Pose as easily while taking a sip from their favorite ale.
Regardless, Beer Yoga is bringing a whole new meaning to "Namaste" and it's here to stay.
