Is disorganization the bane of your existence? Are you constantly struggling with setting priorities and getting things done? Still a fan of handwritten notes and lists? Has your "to-do" list become an item to do on your "to-do" list? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, then bullet journaling might be the solution!

The Bullet Journal® (or BuJo®) was created by Ryder Carroll in an effort to overcome his own learning disability and improve his focus.

And who couldn't use some help setting priorities and improving focus? We all could!

The National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) 2015 Work Management Survey revealed that 60% of its respondents have lower productivity due to "working on too many things at the same time." Sound familiar?

Bullet journaling can help! It gives you a place to organize and view your priorities in a snapshot, which will make you more focused and increase your productivity.

Carroll explained how bullet journaling works in an interview with Evernote, "Essentially, the bullet journal is a framework for capturing your ideas. It allows you to keep track of what’s happened to you and allows you to organize what is currently going on and plan for the future."

The framework of BuJo® has four components:

  1. There is a section for rapid logging which gives you a place to take notes on what needs to be done, by using symbols to indicate the type and importance of each task.
  2. The modules section serves as a place to organize those notes in a variety of ways.
  3. The monthly log is a calendar and list of monthly tasks.
  4. And lastly, the migration process involves moving uncompleted tasks to the next week or month if they are still critical items.

"The response has been very overwhelming. I receive a lot of messages from individuals who convinced me that it really has changed their lives – especially people who either have some kind of health problems, psychological disorders, or learning disabilities, and find this system really beneficial," Carroll said in an interview with Livescribe.

Carroll goes on to say that one size certainly does not fit all. The beauty of this system is that there is no rigid template to use. "At the end of the day, the big thing about the Bullet Journal® is that it’s a series of methods so if a method doesn’t work for people, then I always advise not to use them. If they do work for them, great. And if there’s something they need the book to do, that it doesn’t, then they should go ahead and invent it."

So, if you are ready to achieve great focus, set goals, become highly productive, and really take charge of your life, start bullet journaling!
