Judge Denies Meek Mill Bail, Says He's A 'Danger To The Community'
Sadly, it looks like Meek Mill won't be leaving prison anytime soon.
Apparently, the judge has denied the rapper's request for bail.
According to docs, obtained by TMZ, Judge Genece Brinkley said when handing down decision that Meek is a "flight risk" and "a danger to the community."
NO HE IS NOT!
In addition, Brinkley had the nerve to question the validity of the rapper's clean drug tests, suggesting he might have used something called "Fast Flush" to cleanse his system.
Meek's lawyer went to court and asked for bail as they are trying to get his 2 to 4 year prison sentence on a probation violation appealed. Remember: The violation is tied to Meek's 2008 conviction on drugs and weapons charges.
Clearly, Meek's attorneys are disappointed with this decision.
"As stated on multiple occasions, [Meek] has never missed a previous court date in this case and poses absolutely no threat to the community, which makes him an ideal candidate for bail – a conclusion the Commonwealth did not oppose," Mill's attorney Joe Tacopina said in a statement, NBC 10 noted.
"We intend to immediately appeal this decision, so Mr. Williams can be released from prison on bail while we continue to work to overturn this wrongful and unjust."
There is some good news though.
Now that Brinkley has denied Meek's request, his lawyers can take this fight to a higher court to ask for a repeal. If he gets one, Meek could be given bail and sent home.
So fingers crossed!
We wrote before that this case with Meek is beyond suspect. Yes, the 30-year-old violated his parole, but his jail sentence of 2-4 years has been deemed mighty excessive. Even his probation officer and the local prosecutor had recommended that he not be jailed, but Judge Brinkley did the opposite, citing that a failed drug test, his failure to comply with court-ordered travel restrictions and two unrelated arrests were behind his current incarceration.
But why the harsh sentence?
There are plenty of theories swirling around out there, including one from Meek’s attorneys that accuse Brinkley of being obsessed with their client. That, and they claim that Brinkley asked Meek to fire his current manager to work with her friend Charlie Mack instead as some type of "Get Our Jail Free" card!!!
It's also been reported that then-girlfriend Nicki Minaj was present when one of these shady conversations went down. But she has yet to confirm or deny those reports.
Since, Meek's arrest last month, lots of folks have had his back, including Colin Kaepernick, Drake and JAY-Z. The hasthag #Justice4Meek has also been trending to show their support.
Keep your head up Meek! We got you!
