Justin Timberlake Talks How Fatherhood Changed His Music: "There’s Nothing Wrong With Putting Good Vibes In The World'"
Justin Timberlake is known for singing about three things: sex, heartbreak and more sex. However, after becoming a father alongside wife Jessica Biel, things have changed a bit.
Timberlake's song "Can't Stop The Feeling!" dominated the radio all summer long, but as you've probably noticed, it doesn't sound like a typical JT tune. He isn't talking about popping strawberry bubblegum, crying rivers or bringing sexy back. Instead, he just wants to spread good vibes and dance. According to Variety, his 18-month-old son Silas was his inspiration for the cheerful summer bop.
"That song came together the way it did because I’d had a son at that point," said Timberlake, who welcomed his son to the world with Biel in April 2015. "It's the sort of thing where you realize, 'Man, there’s nothing wrong with putting some good vibes in the world.'"
The 35-year-old singer isn't planning on rushing his album out anytime soon. "I think everyone I’m working with right now knows that I'm notorious for being like, 'Yeah, let's work. I have no idea when I’ll put it out, though,'" he said. "I’ll put it out when it’s done - when it feels right."
Timberlake explains his next album will be sonically and lyrically different compared to his last album, The 20/20 Experience. "If 20/20 sounded like it literally surrounds your entire head, this stuff feels more like it just punches you between the eyes." Who knew an 18-month-year-old could inspire something that sounds so intense? We can't wait.
