Jemele Hill Vs Katie Nolan: Does ESPN Have “No Tolerance” Policy Or Different Rules for Black Employees?

This is so obviously unfair. Can ESPN management really be this tone deaf??!

When Black ESPN employee Jemele Hill blasted Trump, she was suspended. But when white employee Katie Nolan did the exact-same thing, she was only warned. #WTF

Here’s what happened:

  • ESPN host Nolan live-Tweeted the ESPN pregame show for an NFL game, three days after publicly calling President Donald Trump a “f#cking stupid person” on Viceland’s Desus & Mero comedy show. She still had her job.
  • ESPN anchor Jemele Hill criticized Trump in tweets in September, saying he “is a white supremacist who has largely surrounded himself w/ other white supremacists” and how The Donald “is the most ignorant, offensive president of my lifetime.” She was suspended for violating the network’s social media policy.

Of course, Trump had something to say about Hill's comments at the time.

His supporters are now trolling Nolan on her social media accounts. Here're a couple of comments on her Instagram.

Nolan, who was hired by ESPN in October after a number of years of hosting Garbage Time on Fox Sports, later tweeted that she “had the flu” during the interview. Check it out here...Her comments come at the 13:30 mark.

ESPN said in a statement that it “looked into the totality of Nolan’s comments.” The network adds that “they were inappropriate and we have addressed it with her.”

Now, whether or not Nolan used social media to make those comments shouldn’t make any difference. If ESPN suspended Hill for criticizing the Prez, then Nolan should be held to the same standard! Amiright??

At the time of her suspension, Hill told TMZ she agreed with her employer’s decision to reprimand her. Wonder if she STILL feels that way, knowing her white colleague only got a slap on the wrist?

In any case, Hill recently opened up to Sports Illustrated about the incident, and her future with ESPN. She says she does not regret her comments, but she does regret the medium. “Twitter is not the place.”

What do you think? Just because Nolan did use social media to trounce Trump, does that really make a difference? Weigh in here!
