Kellyanne Conway Just Retweeted A White Nationalist & Sent Them A Love Note
She’s already earned a reputation for serious flubs, but this might be the most egregious:
Kellyanne Conway, the controversial adviser and spokeswoman for President Trump, just retweeted a white nationalist and sent him a Valentine’s Day love note.
Conway’s all over the news these days. That’s to be expected, since she’s one of Trump’s top advisers and constantly doing interviews, but more often than not she’s making headlines for her regular screw-ups. She’s most infamous for coining the phrase “alternative facts,” but is also the genius who made up something called “the Bowling Green massacre” and publicly endorsed/hocked Ivanka Trump’s clothing line on national news – the latter being a major no-no as a conflict of interests.
This latest one though… how does this happen?
The Twitter user in question, Lib Hipocrisy @TrumpTrainNoBrk, describes him/herself as follows: “Hate Anti-American Liberals, Marxist, & Commies.” The bio also includes the hashtags #WhiteIdentity & #Nationalist.
This was the tweet that started it all:
Kellyanne proceeded to retweet the note, then respond:
That tweet has since been deleted, but once something’s on the internet, it’s never really gone.
Buzzfeed reached out to Conway for a comment on the incident. She adamantly denied that she herself posted it, saying, “I don’t know who had access to my account,” and, “I denounce whoever it is. It will be immediately deleted. Everybody makes mistakes.”
It may be a mistake, but it’s not the first time Trump’s team has been embroiled in white nationalist controversies. In 2015, someone on their staff tweeted a photo of Trump superimposed on top of WWII SS troops, and the President also waffled on denouncing KKK leader David Duke during his campaign.
Maybe, then, the most shocking part of this story is how often these ‘accidents’ keep happening.
