When you’re at home, wearing pajamas, eating a bowl of popcorn and having a glass of wine while watching The Voice, by all means sit however TF you want.

But when you’re wearing heels in the Oval Office of the White House, surrounded by dozens of respected leaders from HBCUs, please keep your feet off the furniture.

Kellyanne Conway felt the wrath of the internet after she was photographed kneeling on a couch in the President’s office, and she’s since been pressured into offering an apology.

“I was being asked to take a picture in a crowded room with the press behind us,” explained Conway. “I was asked to take a certain angle and was doing exactly that. I certainly meant no disrespect, I didn’t mean to have my feet on the couch.”

Objectively, it doesn’t seem like the worst faux pas ever. Some commentators have been quick to point out that Obama was regularly photographed with his feet on his desk in that very same office, and no one batted an eye. But this is the incredibly controversial Trump administration we’re talking about, and Kellyanne’s already building quite the rap sheet with her screw ups, so she should be aware that she’s walking on thin ice.

“It is venomous, it is vicious, it bothers my children to be frank with you,” Conway said of her situation since Trump’s inauguration. “I have 24/7 Secret Service protection because people do wish us harm and people should take that very seriously. I’m not a victim at all but people should take very seriously the import of their words when I meant no disrespect.”

Conway would go on to blame a disgruntled journalist for stirring the pot & creating controversy where there was none. But credit where it’s due, her follow-up might be the best possible way to handle the situation: “If we started the trend here, where people are outwardly talking about greater respect for the Office of the President and its current occupant, then perhaps that’s something positive that [can come] out.”

Just get your feet off the couch Ms. Kellyanne!
