#FreeCyntoiaBrown: Kim Kardashian Hires Lawyers To Free Sex Trafficking Victim Convicted of Murder
If you haven't heard of Cyntoia Brown, the woman who is serving a 60-year sentence for shooting one of the men who used her for sex as a teenager, then you might be living under a rock -- because this story has blown UP. Celebs like Kim Kardashian West and Rihanna have posted about it, and Kim K is actually trying to help free this poor victim!

Cyntoia Brown was 16 when she was arrested for a murder in 2004. However, she was tried in Tennessee as an adult. She was handed a 60-year prison sentence, meaning that she would not be eligible for parole until age 69.

Now, keep in mind that not only was Brown a child at the time, but she wasn't in just any regular circumstance. She had a rough childhood, ran away and was eventually sex trafficked by a guy named Cut Throat. When one 43-year-old bought her and took her home, she noticed a cabinet of guns in his house. She thought he was reaching for one under the bed when she instinctively reached for her own gun and shot him in the head.
Now Brown is doomed to be in prison until she's past retirement age.
This girl was a child at the time, and she was desperate! Our system massively fucked up here, and Kim K agrees:
Kim K's attorney, Shawn Holley, confirmed that Kardashian West asked him for help. Shawn Holley was part of Johnnie Cochran's team when they were representing O.J. Simpson with Kim K's dad.
It looks like these stories have struck a nerve with Kardashian West, because she's not only helping Cyntoia Brown. She's also asked Holley to help Alice Johnson, who recently gained attention for being a 62-year-old grandma who is serving a life sentence for a non-violent drug offense (SMFH).
Lord knows these women definitely don't have the type of top-notch lawyer that Kim K money can afford, so it's amazing that she is trying to help them out!
Other celebs are impressed, too. Alyssa Milano responded, "I love you, @KimKardashian. Thank you for this."
These cases never move quickly, so we'll have to wait and see whether Holley can actually make a difference here. Fingers crossed for justice!
