Kindergartener Saves Grandma's Life From Stroke...Awarded Hero By City
A 5-year-old girl in Ripley, Ohio has just proven you're never too young to save a life! Kindergartener Virtuous Rose Bennett SAVED her grandma's life by calling 911 at just the right moment!
The city of Ripley honored Rose with an award. They held a ceremony at Rose's school, St. Michael School, to thank her for her courage, according to Black Doctor. Rose got to show her whole class that even a kindergartener can be a hero!

Rose lives with her grandmother, Beverly Lipps, and one day she noticed that her grandma was acting differently than normal.
Rather than just sitting and panicking, Rose decided to take action--she picked up the phone and called 911 herself!
It turns out that her grandma WAS acting differently--she was in the middle of having a stroke!!! Thank goodness that Rose intervened when she did. The fact that this little girl managed to recognize that something was wrong AND stay calm enough to dial 911 is truly impressive.

Rose's grandma, of course, is extremely grateful to her granddaughter for being her hero. "I'm very proud of her. It takes my heart; I'm kind of in tears," Lipps said. "It still brings me to tears to think that she saved my life. I'm very proud of her, and it means a lot to me."
Her grandma even said: "I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for that little girl."
Grandma must have done something right to raise such a smart and brave little girl! Thanks to Rose, her grandma was saved by the Brown County Air-Evac and the Ripley Life Squad.
Lt. Howard McClain, who's on the Ripley Life Squad, said that "Rose remained calm. She told us that something was not right and her grandmother was ill, so she called 911. This is a hero."

We can imagine that calling 911 must have been a HARD moment for Rose. When you're a little kid, it's confusing and scary to see grown-ups in pain!! This little girl kept her wits about her enough to do something even scarier and call 911--something she'd probably never done before.
Lipps said she asked Rose why she called 911, and Rose said "because you were really, really sick."
"She did something that stepped out of her comfort zone," McClain said. "She remained calm, courageous, and she helped her grandmother."
To Rose, the EMS presented a certificate that read: "911 Hero Award. You are amazing, you are strong, you are smart and most of all, you are a hero."
At just five years old, Rose is an inspiration to us all!
