Kylie vs. Kylie is officially over – and the win goes to the Australians.

Kylie Jenner just lost her longstanding legal battle with singer Kylie Minogue over the trademark rights to their first name.

In case you haven’t been keeping up (puns FTW), Jenner filed to trademark the name “KYLIE” in April of 2014. This was a business decision particularly concerning her cosmetics line, though her paperwork also cites “advertising services,” and, “endorsement services.”

Thing is though, Kylie Minogue has been around for a long while. Her 30-year career extends a decade longer than Jenner’s even been alive. And while the songstress is certainly known in America, she’s massively, wildly popular in her home country of Australia.

So 48-year old Minogue was having none of Jenner’s trademark filing and quickly, “filed a notice of opposition citing possible confusion and ‘damage’ to her branding.” Furthermore, Minogue’s paperwork shows zero chill towards Jenner: it describes her opponent as a “secondary reality personality.” #ShotsFired

And apparently the United States Patent & Trademark Office agrees with Minogue (I'm trying to imagine a room full of government employees arguing over which Kylie is more important). Jenner’s trademark request was denied; she’s already filed an appeal.

It’s unclear as of yet what this will mean for Jenner’s cosmetics line and her “advertising [and] endorsement services,” but it’s hard to imagine the darling of KUWTK taking the news well.

Well, you know what they say, "You can't always get what you want." Though I imagine that sentiment doesn't usually ring true for the Kardashians...
